Tapping Trees and Sampling Maple Products
In addition to JHB’s first grade students attending a field trip to the Bacon Maple Farm last month, they learned all about the process of making maple syrup, tapping trees for sap, and using their five senses to sample different maple products from activities done in the classroom. Students were able to try two different grades of maple syrup (dark amber and golden), maple cookies, and maple milk. Using their five senses, students described what they saw, what they smelled, and what the maple food product tasted like (not sweet, kind of sweet, sweet, or very sweet). Based on their taste testing, students completed a graph about what their favorite maple product was and wrote an opinion piece about which product they liked the most and why! #WeAreRSU18 #JHBdragons
