Donating $1,000 to Local Charities

Representatives from Make-A-Wish of Maine and the Alfond Cancer Center in Augusta joined the fourth grade students from Mr. Reardon’s and Mrs. Bailey’s classes in the library to receive $530 checks to go towards each of their charities. The students were provided a presentation from each representative to further understand just how their donations will be used and the impact their hard work will have on the patients of each charity. They also had an opportunity to explain how the money was raised, some of the products that were created, and how they used a Decision Making Matrix to determine how the money would be donated. These two organizations have had a personal impact on several of the students’ families both presently and in the past. What made the experience even more wonderful was that Natalie Corrigan, a former student of JHB, was one of the representative from the Alfond Cancer Center that received the donation. She also took part in the Sidney Mall when she attended school at JHB! #WeAreRSU18 #JHBdragons
