Leaping Through Leap Day

Origami frogs are a popular and fun paper-folding project enjoyed by many, and what better way to celebrate Leap Day than by creating one! Students in Mr. Gordon’s fourth and fifth grade class at the James H. Bean School followed simple steps that involved folding a square sheet of paper into the shape of a frog that can actually jump when pressed down on its back! Students tested the leap length of their frogs using their knowledge of the scientific method.

Learners also competed in a standing long jump challenge! In this activity, they started from a standing position and attempted to jump as far as possible without taking any steps before the jump. They measured the distance from the takeoff point to the closest point of contact on the landing. #WeAreRSU18 #JHBdragons
