Exploring Various Styles of Literature
Celebrating Read Across America and enjoying a week of Seussical activities, fifth graders in Mrs. Greenlaw’s and Mrs. Kanhai-Singh’s rooms at James H. Bean held a “Read In.” Ahead of time, they planned what to read by asking, “What are common texts that people read on a regular basis?” They took advantage of reading and read all day! Cookbooks, magazines, travel brochures, poetry anthologies, newspapers, Dr. Seuss books, restaurant menus, grocery store flyers, maps, real estate brochures, literature study books, independent reading texts, and more were enjoyed! The day was broken up into small time frames, allowing each student to enjoy each of the styles of literature! When asked what their favorite was, the majority said, “Travel brochures!” #WeAreRSU18 #JHBdragons
