Meet Carrie Brennan, Principal of James H. Bean School
Meet Carrie Brennan, Principal of the James H. Bean School!
Personal Background and Motivation
As Mrs. Brennan begins her 29th year in education, she reflects on what she enjoys most: the joy of coming to school each day. She loves that every day brings new experiences and fresh opportunities to make a difference in the lives of students.
Leadership Style and Vision
When it comes to supporting student achievement and well-being, Brennan believes in championing teachers first. She works to ensure that educators have the support they need to provide engaging lessons and classroom environments. She also values the importance of strong connections with the adults in students’ lives, knowing that when teachers and families work together, students thrive.
Community Engagement
Mrs. Brennan emphasizes that families and the community play an essential role in school life. While she understands the many demands on families’ time, she encourages parents and caregivers to stay engaged by reading newsletters, checking home-to-school folders, attending conferences, and communicating openly with staff. For those who can, volunteering for events, field trips, or other school activities is another wonderful way to be involved in the JHB community.
Education and Innovation
Supporting professional growth for teachers is also a priority for Mrs. Brennan. This year, she is proud to continue with the district-wide PreK–5 LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) training. Early release and workshop days provide opportunities for educators to expand their knowledge and explore strategies to further enhance reading and spelling instruction.
Message to Students
If she could share one message with students and families as the school year begins, it would be simple and enthusiastic: “JHB is the place to be!”
